Can a bot give
legal advice?

Juriskop was a state-funded legal tech research project by JUN Legal GmbH in cooperation with the University of Würzburg. From early 2022 to the end of 2024, we jointly researched how chatbots can support case-specific legal advice in natural language.

The guiding question

Bots instead of lawyers? What still sounds like utopia today could soon be everyday reality in the legal profession and the judiciary.

All prototypes and
findings — online.

By developing chatbot prototypes for selected legal topics, we wanted to find out how well this can work — but also where other methods are better suited to improving legal advice. When large language models became widely available, we also evaluated their suitability.

You can find all prototypes and results from the project in the Juriskop blog. Would you like to get in touch with us? The project contacts are Johannes Partheymüller, lawyer, and Dr. Sophie Garling, lawyer.
